BUCO was established in 1996 by Iliad Africa, the building materials group that has since been incorporated into The Building Company (formerly Steinbuild). Their stores and BUCO catalogues are designed to cater to both contractors and DIY customers. The company have specific contractor counters and convenient payment and pick-up facilities, in addition to well-stocked shops for casual shoppers. BUCO embraces a ‘Let’s Build Together’ philosophy, aimed at creating partnerships with customers, whether they be large-scale contractors or DIY enthusiasts. Customers can browse the regular BUCO specials on offer either in their catalogues or at one of their 94 stores. BUCO is also the biggest roof truss manufacturer in South Africa.
BUCO shops supply a wide variety of products suitable for both on-site purposes and at-home DIY. These include power tools and accessories, spirit levels, measuring equipment, built-in braais, hearths, gates, locks, fence spikes, burglar bars, outdoor supplies, plumbing and maintenance equipment, heat pumps, solar geysers, countertop and pedestal basins, kitchen sinks, copper pipes, PVC cisterns, shower heads, multi-lights, dimmers, distributors, wiring, adaptors, lighting, roof trusses, and paint.
